C.A.S. Licensure Requirements

Counseling Licensure for C.A.S. Students

In order to earn your counseling license through C.A.S., you must:

  • Complete all academic and professional program components and graduate with your C.A.S.
  • Apply in ELAR for your initial license for School Counselor or School Adjustment Counselor
  • Apply in ELAR for the Communication & Literacy MTEL Waiver or pass the test

You will become eligible for your initial license after graduation. To support your employment search, the Licensure Team can provide a Letter of Good Standing, verifying your anticipated program completion and eligibility for licensure.

Moving to another state?

Plan ahead! Licensure requirements vary by state and additional examinations, coursework, or other requirements may be needed to qualify for licensure outside of Massachusetts. If you anticipate applying for licensure in another state, we encourage you to contact Sami early in the academic year to discuss your plans.
